Women’s Urologic Health Alliance

The Women’s Urologic Health Alliance (WUHA) is committed to achieving our primary objectives of fostering mentorship and professional development in clinical, administrative, and leadership roles within the field of urology. At the practice level, we aim to establish a robust resource network that facilitates growth and collaboration. Additionally, our outreach initiatives and programming are strategically designed to cater to resident and early practice provider education, ensuring a tailored approach to their unique needs. Furthermore, our focus extends to preparing independent groups for the imminent significant shift in the GU trainee workforce. We are dedicated to positioning these groups favorably, equipping them to embrace and adapt and thrive in the evolving landscape.

Our members are physicians, APPs and administrators who work in GU practices in a professional capacity and who identify as women. We welcome participation by anyone in the medical community who is interested in promoting diversity and helping to grow and adapt our practices to meet the evolving needs of our employees, our patients, and our communities.

All About Empowering Women in Urology

At the 2024 LUGPA Annual Meeting, there was a session entitled, Women’s Urologic Health Alliance Program: Adapting to the Modern Workforce featuring Mara Holton, MD, Kari Bailey, MD and Katie Desiderio, MBA, PhD. 

At the 2023 LUGPA Annual Meeting, there was a session entitled, "Empowering Women in Urology" which focused on challenges and opportunities for women in urology. The panel discussion covered topics such as work-life balance, the importance of mentorship and advice for navigating career paths in urology. “We want women in urology to know that beyond your individual practice, you have a community of incredible women in LUGPA who you can look to and rely on for support and resources,” said Kari Bailey, MD, moderator of the panel discussion.
